December 2010

Brick feels a lot of pressure the week of Christmas. Three days before, on the 22nd, we also celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. Poor guy, if he forgets that day he might as well sign his own death certificate. I only joke. Kind of.
He actually has done a really great job all four years we've been married. This year, though, he outdid himself.

The morning of the 22nd I woke up to him cleaning the house AND making me breakfast. He told me to go get ready for the day--He was sending me on a birthday shopping spree with his mom while he watched the biddy boy! When we got home from shopping his mom took Boston while Brick took me to dinner at the Bombay house, a very authentic Indian restaurant. When we got home, I walked in to find a chocolate fondue fountain in my dining room:

To top it all off, he got me a chick flick to make the night perfect:)

Thank you sweetheart for four amazing years! You are such an amazing husband and daddy! I love you and can't wait to see what the next few years will bring!

Now, because this is a catch-up post, here are some Christmas pictures of my two favorite boys:

Big Smiles and Football Time

My little man is so much fun! He is getting so smiley, usually only wakes up once in the night, and loves to cuddle with his momma.

This kid is growing like crazy. I told Brick before he was born that I was a little worried. I couldn't even keep my houseplants alive (RIP the cactus of 2007), how was I going to keep a baby alive? But I shouldn't have worried. This kid will not let me skip a feeding time. He will make sure I know he's hungry at least a half hour before. Can you tell?

He is such a cuddly boy! I love it!

This Little Piggy

Can you believe in just a couple of weeks this little string bean has gone from this:

...to this?
He was such a good little hat model for me, which is good because I made him like a zillion of these darn hats.
*Disclaimer: This post has far more photos than one post should have. Just warning you. I'm addicted to this kid's face!

This is his special teddy bear from Aunt Esther

Smiles!

Check out those cheeks!
He wore this blue and tan one home from the hospital. It barely fits him now.
"How many more hats do I have to try on, Mom?"

This kids hands are huge!

Boston has been so much fun to hang out with every day. He is such a sweet, good baby, and as you can tell, a GREAT eater. I can't keep up with him! He's all smiles, especially when daddy comes home. Brick loves his little boy, and is always volunteering to put him to sleep and change his diaper. What dad does that? Is this the same guy who said he was afraid of newborns and swore he would NEVER change a dirty diaper? He is such a natural, and he's never been sexier than when he's holding this precious boy in his arms!!

Auntie Esther and Boston are already pals. She came and helped me for a few days, and was there in the hospital for my stay. She also got up in the night and helped when he was fussy so I could sleep.

Overall delivary day went pretty smoothly. We went in at 5:30 a.m., Wednesday October 20th, and I was induced at 6 a.m. I really started to feel it around 9:30, and around 11 Dr. Muscolino came in and broke my water. After that it became pretty painful, but luckily not more than a couple hours after that I got my epidural. I was at a 4 then, and thankfully was able to fall asleep with the pain relieved. I woke up about an hour later and was at an 8! Labor progressed rapidly after that and at 4:11 we had our little boy! We are so grateful for his health and the love we instantly felt for him. Thanks you everyone for your help and love and support! Brick, you are especially amazing, and I love seeing how much you love your little boy!

9 months and counting

Why am I still here? And what do I have to do to get this boy out of me? (Ok, but really, no advice, thank you very much. I've heard it all, and from everyone from the lady at the grocery store to the man I live with). Brickton worked from home all this week and last, just in case (ha), and we went on brisk walks up the wazzoo. Nothing. We ate spicy food. Nothing. And we tried all the other things, too (ehem). Nothing, nothing, nothing. I am actually feeling pretty good though, considering that I am 4 days past due, I can't sleep, I can't see my toes or get up on my own, and I waddle like a duck.
BUT THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL! We are getting up bright and early tomorrow morning to get induced. I. Am. So. NERVOUS! Wish us luck, and come this time tomorrow let's cross our fingers that our little man is here and healthy! Thanks for all the kind thoughts, calls, and prayers!

Can't wait to meet Mr. Boston Brickton Flammer!

Big Fish

(...Or kind of little fish). Brick has been getting more boy time in before I make him turn all his attention to cooking gourmet meals for me, changing diapers, and spoiling me and the baby.
In reality he has been so sweet and attentive this past little while, and so anxious to meet mini Brick. He deserves all the fishing trips and football time he can get.

At Utah Lake, with the 3rd fish he's ever caught. He went with our friend Jeff and his little boy and brothers, and came back sweaty, sunburnt, and happy.
